YouTube-sday™: Now 50% smaller

Enjoy this video. It's done with tilt-shift photography and makes everything look like models. Pretty sweet, if you ask me.

Under all them robes...

Congrats to Barack, for that total ownage of Sen. McCan't. I enjoyed the numerous times Obama pulled out facts that directly opposed what McCan't said, and there the Republican cadidate is, stewing with a silly smile on his face, knowing he was caught, and never responding to the facts presented. And it was brought up that McCan't never looked at Obama during the entire debate, and that may be true.

Anyway, according to this article, a group/gaggle/mob/flock of members of the KKK were going to show up at the debate, but would not be in regalia. Which just goes to show how pathetic the group is. Not only do they have no courage to show their faces, unless they are sounded by police keep the people fighting against their hatred at bay, they definitely have ZERO guts to show up somewhere even in their cute little bath robes. Gutless cowards.

Here's something I may have linked before - it's a photo essay (with some audio files on a few pictures) of a woman that sews the dresses for KKK members. It's interesting, and at the same time, saddening.

Is this for real?

Can someone.....ANYONE.....please tell me how 40-some percent of this country can honestly think that this person has one shred of ability to potentially be the President of this land? I would call it an embarrassment of a campaign, if it wasn't for the gnawing fear and horror that yes - they could actually win this thing.

Now, I understand there are many people, who in their hearts and minds, believe that conservative values are in line with their values. And really, I do respect them. I think they may be a little skewed because of my liberal thinking, but their belief of smaller government and other conservative ideals has resonated in their lives for a long time and they have a genuine desire (I feel) to benefit us all. Yet, it cannot be denied there are some people that vote Republican for one or two reasons and compromise the rest of their desires and morals. Others are scared into voting that way cuz the the big bad terrorists are coming our way with WMDs and all this other crap (see 2004 & 2006 elections). Then there are the last group - out and out racist citizens that will vote one way only because the candidate on the other side has dark skin. While I am disappointed with the middle two groups, this last bunch disgusts me. I think it might be time to give that whole secession thing another try.

Another is gone.

Last night was the last baseball game in Yankee Stadium. Yanks are all but eliminated from the post season, so the House that Ruth built saw it's last action last night. I never visited the park - just saw it from the Empire State Building, but I wish I could have been there just once. Add it to my other misses - the Boston Garden, Montreal Forum, Tiger Stadium, Astrodome, Maple Leaf Gardens, and a host of other arenas.

Last night, during the telecast on ESPN, a bunch of old timers visited the booth to share stories of Yankee Stadium. I thought "the heck with play-by-play...just tell stories all game!!". The part that was the best occured with Whitey Ford and Yogi Berra going through old times. Oh - for an hour alone with them to tell about the good ol' days of the game. Of all the talk about past Yankee greats, their time ended with this fantastic Yogi story/quote, that actually occured at Comiskey Park. As Yogi told it:

Whitey was on the mound against the White Sox. First pitch of the game, Luis Aparicio smacked a double. Nellie Fox followed by laying down a bunt on the first pitch and beating it out to first. The first pitch to the next batter, Minnie Minosa, hit him in the neck, loading the bases. Ted Kluszewski took the first offering he saw out over the fence for a grand slam. Manager Casey Stengel comes out to the mound to talk to his pitcher and asks Yogi "Does Whitey have any stuff tonight?" to which Yogi replied:

"How the hell would I know. I haven't caught a ball yet."

Classic Yogi. See ya, old girl.

And you are sticking to that story?

So the pandering VP pick known as Alaska governor Palin got into a little chat this morning with Charles Gibson on ABC. As expected, she spoke about this and that, skirted questions when possible, told outright lies, and dropped the new RNC talking point trying to explain her knowledge of national security:

"Let me speak specifically about a credential that I do bring to this table, Charlie, and that’s with the energy independence that I’ve been working on for these years as the governor of this state that produces nearly 20 percent of the U.S. domestic supply of energy."

Along with this incredible osmosis talent that makes you some great foreign policy guru:

"You can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska."

So energy is what makes you some security pro? That's what makes you qualified to possibly be the #2 person in the US? Really????

Ever see any of the Bourne movies? Totally kick butt. And for that reason alone, you should love Matt Damon. Lemme give you another:

Elitists - line up to the right.

Remember day 1 of the RNC? First Lady Bush and Repub candidate lady McCain came out to talk. Well Vanity Fair did a little vetting (a heck of a lot more than they did for Palin) about the outfits these two ladies were wearing. Ms. Bush's outfit cost about $3500-$4300 bucks. Ms. McCain's little number cost about $300k. Yes - three hundred thousand dollars! That's a 3 followed by 5 zeros. In case you are wondering what better that money could have been spent on in this world, besides a pale attempt to show 250 million Americans that you are NOT some rich snob looking down on the middle class, here's a short list:

... one and a half houses, given the national median home price of $206,500.

... a year's worth of health care for 750 people.

... the full array of back-to-school supplies and clothes for 500 kids.

... enough gas to drive cross-country 543 times.

... 365 round-trip flights from Washington, D.C., to Anchorage, Alaska.

... a three-course steak dinner (at Mat-su Resort) and a movie ticket (for the Mat-su Cinema) for every man, woman, and child in Wasilla, Alaska.
